The week of April 6-13th has been designated “creek week” and is a time to focus on repairing the many fragile riparian ecosystems that dot the Central Valley. Getting out into the local, natural world and learning its way is an important part of learning how best to defend it. Secret Ravine Fish Passage Project Saturday April 6th 9:00 am – noon Maintain riparian plantings of this complete restoration near the mouth of Secret Ravine. Miners Ravine Nature Reserve Restoration Saturday, April 13th, 9am to noon Care for more than 550 native plantings at this major restoration project including weeding, adding mulch, and repairing drip irrigation. Native Birds and Wildflowers of Roseville Sunday April 27th, 9 to 11:30am. All ages welcome. Join local Naturalist Scott Dietrich for a very easy walk through Miners Ravine at the best time to see birds and wildflowers. The lilies and the lupines should be showcasing their best colors and local and migratory birds such as Warblers and Flycatchers will be singing. Expect to learn a little natural history of the local flora and fauna and enjoy this splendid time of year. Wear shoes to hike in, bring water and binoculars if you have them. Meet at John G.
